i have a very straight '80 k5, it has all the side trim that wraps around front fender and around the rear 1/4 panel.

i'm planning on painting it od green, w/flat black inside the side trim...once i save some more money, i'll leave the od green, but inside the side moulding, i plan on covering inside trim w/ this

either in advantage timber, or the realtree Hardwoods HD(prolly the 1st one)

now the question, what to do with the '80's huge chrome grille, and the aluminum side moulding(i think i will do it flat black, so when i add the camo, it will be like an outline, paint the colored stripe in it od green for looks), but what to do w/ that huge chrome grill on the '80 model?

Send me all the molding, and if the grill is intact, send it my way too. I'm kidding of course, but I would say to keep the grill, or get the non-chrome version of the grill. I am saving the money to buy all the chrome trim for my 80, since all of it was missing when I bought it. But, I am not doing OD green.

i have a straight 79 front cap, do you think i should put it on to save that unique 80 grill should i ever want to go w/ a good paint job? i kinda hate to mess up that perfect 80 grille....oh snap i may already have access to an 80 grill thats already been painted..i just remembered that

lectric, im just toying w/this idea....i'm looking for a 90-91 front cap and if i find 1, all the original trim is coming off! and do the truck in black and silver like this but full vert conversion

That would be a sweet setup. I went with the 80 specifically for the unique front grille. It is a unique look that can't be found on any other year. I like the 90-91 version as well, but I don't want to change mine. I want all the trim back on, since 95% of the Blazers in my area have no trim, so it will set it apart. Plus, I just don't think they look good with all the steel panels, and nothing to break them up. When I finally get the body work done, it will be going a med blue with silver in the trim area. Should be a nice look, and the trim makes the masking very easy.
