I've had this skid laying around for many years. It's 3/8" aluminum. I'm not sure what I think about it. Will the aluminum even stand up to a hit? It also has a lot of coverage on the driver's side for no reason. I could trim it back though. It also gives up probably 0.5" of clearance compared to a steel one. Do the steel ones just bend with a hard hit anyway though?

These pics just show it close to mounted position.

Well, the guy who built that skid was a seasoned roll cage builder, so chances are he'd pick the right material.

Yeah, just had those pipes done. I couldn't fit my front shaft previously. I have too much fuel stuff in the way right now to run the pipe over the crossmember on passenger side, and the headers reach back too far to route it over the shaft. He also snaked it between the shock and tank in the back with about 1/4" to spare all around.

I'd say being that thick,it'd be pretty tough, even if it wasn't high grade aircraft type aluminum...much better than nothing at least!..especially when the transfer case is like an eggshell in comparison..
