So I found this ad on Craigslist:

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/cto/5620983625.html

I've been texting with the guy and he has said:

There's no AC compressor but the entire AC system is made for r34a it's all new just needs to be cleaned it's not an R12 conversion actual R34 A

It was a Yavapai County fire truck after it was a fire truck it became a hunting vehicle the speedometer broke at 113000 Miles I've put 1000 miles on it since then its a true low mileage truck pretty good condition passenger rear door has a fairly good-sized dent in it it could be pushed out very easily I don't think you would need any major body work high beam headlights are wired into a switch because of the flashing light system that had I have removed that system is still there there's fog lights on the hood fog lights on the bumper 6 lights total

Shifts great brand new clutch 4 x 4 worked last time I used it when I was in mud never got stuck but I sure tried up until December I lived in chino vally/ Paulden Arizona

Yes my wife couldn't drive one until she drove this she drives a fine hints why Its got a new clutch she like to ride the clutch but it is very easy to drive for someone starting out because you put it in low gear slowly let out on the clutch it will accelerate just fine you don't even have to use the gas so if you need to teach somebody how to use a clutch this is the perfect

Yeah the trucks gone pretty much everywhere it can be easily be a daily driver

It sounds like a good deal if its had everything done to it he says. It looks like it'll need mostly cosmetic work, which I can handle. What are the thoughts of the brethren here?

Thing is a trainwreck. Are you looking for something to ground-up?

Guessing the rings are hammered or will be soon with the open hole in the valve cover

vehicle body wise = bark bark

drive line parts + price = prob o.k.

looks like a 205 shifter for the tcase .

Two more pics. The body looks pretty straight. Not sure why it is black, though. I was thinking about buying this and cannibalizing everything from the two trucks (my 2WD 1/2 ton '76 and this 4x4 3/4 ton '78) to make one trail/expedition rig out of the '78.

It's ok for the price, if you are looking to put some Time into it,offer 500,lots of pars

Looks very solid body wise (from a midwesterners view point at least).. & Looks like it could make a decent project if you could score it for the right price.

I think I'm going to go take a look at it next week when the guy gets back in town. I'll take some better pictures. I'll also take some magnets to test the body for filler. Anything else you guys suggest I look for to possibly bring his asking price down more?
