opinions/recommendations on a truck I might buy

Hi all I'm pretty close to buying a new to me trk.Its a newer body style 2001 Chevy K3500 Xtracab 4wd 8.1 115K most options.From a used car dealer.$12,000 I'm looking for general opinions on that trk/any constant promblems etc......... 2 odd things I noticed.It has a new rear drive shaft (trk has a fifth wheel) and theres what appears to be oil up in the frt fender whells particularly on the drvr side THANKS ahead for ur info and opinions

The best advice I have for you is to spend a bit more money and buy my 04 2500HD. Unless you need the 1 ton...

But otherwise, the 8.1s use oil. Just a quirk with that engine, about 1qt every 3k miles. Oil in the fenderwells can be anything from too much tire shine put on by the clean up crew at the dealer to a mechanical problem. Need a real good look at the truck to figure that one out. And who knows why the d-shaft was replaced, balance issue? damage? The only one who will know is the one who replaced it.

General opinion, I've owned my truck since new and have absolutely loved it for driving, hauling, and towing. The 8.1 is a beast of an engine, excellent gas engine to tow/haul with.
