Optima batteries and the sunshine

Just curious if anybody has mounted their Optima right out in the open where it will be exposed to all the elements. Freezing cold to Blazing sun?

I have a friend that races open class mud truck and a full size blazer. Both have the battery out in the open. He has no problems with the batteries.
