Optima batteries - pro / con?

I have a Wal mart marine battery in my boat it sat for 6 months without a charge. It lit my boat up today no problem. Personally I think optima batts are way over rated and over priced. But i guess if you pay 100 bucks for a battery you get what you pay for.... If thats what you believe

I have two red tops--one in the wife's DD K2500 and one in my old K5 which isn't driven very often and that is the reason I put one in the K5--no problems yet fires up every time and we had a pretty cold winter for my part of KS. From what I understand, they're more vibration resistant, hold their charge longer and handle extreme temperatures well.

I have had a red top and now have a yellow top. I had to drive a long ways on a bad wheel bearing(bad vibrations) and it killed a normal battery, well as luck would have it nearly a year later making the same trip and the same wheel bearing went bad. The optima survived just fine. I did eventually ruin it after 6 years by charging it too fast. Now my battery charger has a setting for gel cel batteries.
