Optima or Orbital batterys?

I have had both kinds and killed both kinds. I now actually have one of each as they were replaced under warranty. For long term storage you have to disconnect them or hook them up to a trickle charger if you want max life. I believe that they are rated the same, I just went with what was cheeper. Got the orbital at NAPA on sale for 99.99, and the optima at costco for 99.99, I have seen both retail for 129.99 not on sale.

They are the same thing for all intents & purposes. Only one company makes the "spiral-cell", they then rebadge them to appeal to different markets.

Think Chevy Trailblazer, or GMC Envoy.

I was told that the optimas use virgin lead, and the exide orbitals don't, but otherwise they are pretty much the same.

I have used nothing but yellow top Optimas in all my vehicles including obviously the daily drivers.

Haven't used the orbital's, but got dual optima's in my trail rig now and love 'em to death.

I really like my group 31 optima yellowtop. It is bigger than a regular one.

Interesting story. The last time I went wheeling my battery mount broke and the battery ended up against the exhaust manifold. It melted a hole in the bottom and fluid was leaking out. I put the battery back in its place and tied it down with a ratchet strap and wheeled for two more days and winched a few times. The truck sat for a week and still started. I don't know how much damage I did to the battery, but I know it is still working. I am impressed.
