:k5: I can get a late 70's 1 ton 4x4 from a guy that has a 455 block in it. the one ton rears of course i will put under the 89 beast. it also has a sm465 trans & np205 T-case. the bolt patterns are dif from chevy so i would like to put the 455 in my 72 K5 but i wanted to make it a plush street queen so i wanted automatic, which i found a company that makes 700r4's in a varity of bolt patterns. but what i was wondering has anyone used the 455's in trucks on here and how do they like them? what trans are you running? any suggestions?

Which 455? I don't even know who all made one, except Oldsmobile. Buick and Pontic both as well?

There are a few people that have run them on here, the Olds was a fairly common swap due to the early 5.7L Olds diesels they put in the trucks failing. Made the most sense to use another Olds because the wiring (battery), exhaust and motor mounts were already right.

I believe a BOP TH400 will bolt right up to that motor and then you can use any transfer case that came behind TH400's from the factory (if you get the adapter).

Motor mounts on a 455 might be different than Chevy mounts.

I believe the motor mounts are different, my dad actually put one in his 3/4 ton chevy but it was 2wd and I think he used a TH400

My buddy and I cleaned one up once to use in his truck, and he had to buy an adapter to mount it up to his manual trans. in his 82 GMC. We didn't end up putting it in though cuz he traded it for a full exhaust set up for his duramax truck...

Whats a BOP T400 or TH400? do you mean a regular gm th400 cause the bellhousing patterns are different from chevy to pontiac.
