options for 4.3 V6 to any V8

I have a 99 gmc 1500 2wd that really needs a V8 . the motor and tranny was removed from the truck to put in a smaller truck and my 99 needs a V8. what range of year models and size would be the best over all fit for my 1500?

any 99 to current v8. the gen III/IV motors 4.8/5.3/5.7/6.0.

my suggestion would be to buy a wrecked truck to swap the whole drivetrain.

old small blocks would be too much work. gm already did the home work for you.
