I was reading the newest Petersens and it said that ORD offered a 3 link front suspension kit for use with coilovers for 2nd gens. Don't see anything aboot them on ORDs website.... so whats the skinny?

eh sort of... but without the steering stuff, springs/shocks and 10 bolt. lol! ;) :thumb: I'm sure its the same suspension parts... but the Petersens article said ORD sells a 3 link front KIT. Kinda surprised that they don't have this on their main web site.. like right up front. Lots of people want linked suspensions....

I think what you saw is that they have a four liink kit for the 80's trucks and are trying to move into the 90's trucks. The blurb in the mag was a little hard to understand.

They have been testing the fourlink on Stephens Suburban and Cousin Willard for a while and are trying to get all of the final bracketry worked out for both the 10 bolt version and the D60 version.

Beyond that you would have to talk to the man himself.

I would be surprised to see a "kit", ever. I think there are too many variables, especially with a changed wheelbase. I think almost everyone has moved their front axle some.

They make double triangulate 4 link kits for Jeeps that are completely bolt on.

I think it could be feasible on a K5.

With a link kit you can change wheel base quite easy. Length of arms, location of crossmembers etc.

It will never be cheap to put quality components together and make a coilover suspension. There is always some custom part but not a whole lot.

The rear four link kit that ORD sells sometimes is under at least five vehicles ranging from my buggy to a power wagon cab sitting on a long bed chassis and each one is barely changed to work.

OK, I thought there would be limitations on how far you could move the axle, due to the upper shock mount position being limited.

The upper shock mount can limit the axle location but usually they can allow for several inches either way of "center" without issue.

In the front you can only go so far forward and still be able to keep the steering in the stock location. The front kit easily handles this from what I have seen.
The rear provides a LOT of flexability in the axle location mainly because the upper mounts are typically a custom fab job anyway due to vehicle use and design.

So there is a "Kit" but within that kit you get a bit of playing room with actual locations of stuff.

full hydro here... and no body to worry about either. ;) upper shock mounting will be where ever I wanna put it. :thumb:
