ORD bolt in steering box brace fitment/clearance issues

Damn, never got a notification about any of this.

Don't you have to swap the whole box to a 2wd box?
There's so much crap up there that it'll just not be fun to get those three bolts out. I had a 8" extension on a long socket just to get to the top bolt.

I'll try to get some pictures of the completed job and all the crap in the way tonight or soon.

To answer your question, no, you need not swap the whole box; you can do it with the box still attached and just swap sector shafts. BTDT. See

Okay, here's the pictures of the steering box brace mounted up and all the extra stuff in the way.

Count me in among those having problems with clearing the brace! I believed the ORD instructions and the review here at CK5 saying it would be a breeze, but after I crawled under the truck to test it out I pretty much instantly assigned this brace install way down to the bottom of my to-do list. My cooler and brake lines are pretty much all in the way, and I'm not really up for any major re-routing at the moment. :doah:

They have SOME give to them so you might be able to move them. I surprised myself and was able to move them enough to get the brace on.

The line on the frame there is sitting right on the brace's half moon cutout though.
