Edit: I have gotten all 4 springs installed, it just took some ratchet straps and leverage.

I went to install my leaf Springs tonight and there might be something wrong with my custom Springs from ORD

I installed the front and everything looks okay. The only concern is when I put weight on it the rear of the spring will flex up into the frame instead of down?

Now the rears must be wrong? They're very short? I can't even bolt them up at the shackle?

I thought the rears should just bolt up but they're only 42" eye to eye??

Any ideas?

Orders got mixed up.
Nothing on a gm has 42" springs

First gen front springs are 42's I believe.

Measuring eye to eye doesn't mean anything. Measure along the main leaf. Those are some really tall springs and the rear eye is going to move way back when there's some weight on them. Whether or not there's a risk of inversion on full droop is a valid question, though.

call and talk to stephen probly tuesday as they were at bb this weekend.

I know that the rear 64 inch rear Springs I got built by Stephen required me to cut a 2x4 to length and compress the springs under a rack and slip the board between the eyes so that I can get them to reach the shackle to bolt them up.

Seriously, measure the real length. I bet they are longer than your stock spring. When you asked for a million inches of lift, how did you expect them to look?

:haha::haha::haha:

This is a valid question to the OP. How many inches of lift did you order?

Don't panic.

ORD springs are soft and have a ton of free arch. You don't have any weight on them, so they are going to look weird until you do... IIRC , mine were a 4" lift spring but had almost 9" of free arch. Once they were installed with the weight of the front end, engine, etc, they sat perfect.

I'll give you 99% odds that the springs are actually fine. :deal:

So I have attached it at the shackle and I think if I put a jack under the center of the spring I can stand on the unhooked end and get it to straighten a little?

Only problem is there is no weight on the frame so not sure if its going to want to move.

GOT IT!!! RATCHET STRAPS AND LEVERAGE

I should have asked this before but the "wrap" goes towards the front correct?

Any particular reason you went with 6" springs instead of a shackle flip and 2" springs?

I didn't want the shackles hanging down under the truck in the back so I'm hoping the ord springs will be a pretty good ride.

The ORD springs are Alcans, are they not?

On my buddy's truck when we were installing the Alcans we actually had to mount them to the axle and torque the ubolts. When they were pressed onto the spring perch it opened the springs up almost 4".

If your shackle is inverting under pressure now, see what the angle looks like once you've got the axles bolted on, it might flatten them out enough that the angle looks right again.
