A little background if you haven't checked out my build thread:

Dana 60 front axle, and 14 Bolt FF rear geared to 5.38. Custom suspension lift, about 6" from ORD. 350 TBI with 700R4 and NP241.

The axles are in place, but I have not welded in the spring perches yet.

On to the ask; I need to figure out driveshafts. I'm going to install a slip yoke eliminator, and go double cardan rear driveshaft.

Is there any differences that I cant see between the tom woods SYE, and the ORD version? they're only about $25 difference.

Also, it looks like the previous owner shimmed the transfer case down some. should I take the shims out and go back to factory mounts before measuring for shafts?

thanks guys...

I would think that both companies are selling the JB Conversions SYE kit, but I don't know for sure. Last that I knew, ORD was selling those.

And yes, I would pull the shims out. Get the extra little bit of height and lessen the angle on the front driveshaft. With 6" of lift and ORD springs, you will need to make sure that the front CV has enough movement anyway, so give it less to deal with.

They are different. Call one or both of them today and see what’s different

I have a JB conversion. They are all about the same price.

I just installed the Tom Woods 241 SYE about a month ago. It's a nice kit, had good instructions. I had never been inside of a case before and had no issues getting it done. Tom Woods kit comes with the Flange, and takes any standard off the shelf 32 spline yolk or flange. The ORD kit requires you to modify an off the shelf flange/yolk. That was the deciding factor for me.

I had emailed Tom Woods asking about the 241 SYE kit before it was even on their site, I had heard about it somewhere on Pirate4x4. He explained exactly how it was different from the other kits and what benefits it had over them. They were great to work with and are local to me so that made it a good choice too.

That is exactly the kind of info I was looking for. thanks man. I work in the Gulf of Mexico, so my ability to reach out and call people is very limited. Thanks man.

Did you do shafts from Tom Woods as well? I have emailed them for a quote on the whole package, but have not heard back from them yet.

No problem, glad my input added some value.

I went with a Super Duty front shaft for my rear. I cleaned it up, put new joints in it and it bolted right in, perfect length for me. But I also have my rear end pushed back a few inches from the factory location. My front shaft is still the factory assembly. I had looked into doing Tom Woods shafts but it wasn't in my budget, but I'm happy with the SD shaft.

There is a good thread around here on the Super Duty driveshafts, if you want to look into that option I'd find that thread and do some reading. There are good SD shafts and bad SD shafts.

The good news for the ORD unit is, they have flanges in stock, for $15 they will machine the output flange for you

I run an ORD one, and I got a Tom Wood's shaft. They walked me through everything I needed and it was seamless. I have a Super Duty shaft for a backup that I need to make sure fits...

Im still waiting to hear back from Tom Woods about a price quote. Might have to wait until I get home so I can call them. asked them for a quote for the total package. Front and rear shafts, all four yokes, and SYE. But the more I read about the differences, I think tom woods is the way to go.

I installed a Tom Woods one on my 208. So far so good. It's been years, but I also put few miles on my truck.
