ORD Soft tops

Those are Softopper out of Boulder CO, ORD is a dealer. I have one on my K5, its great. Very high quality OEM type materials. I wish it was warmer here. Cruising with the top rolled up safari style and half doors on is one of my favorite things in life. 6 months out of the year is not enough. If I was you in Arizona I would already have it ordered. Ditching the hardtop saves a ton of weight and you can drop even more by going to a pickup tailgate if you are keeping the soft top on year round.

So many “needs” so little money...
Shocks or soft top?
I have seen the tail gate swap, which I would do. It bolts in or what mods are done to accommodate that swap? These blazer tail gates weigh a freaking ton..

Tailgate swap bolts in. Just make sure you have the truck hinges that match the tailgate. There are 2 different tailgate designs, early and late. Both fit the blazer but the hinge must match the tailgate.

I saw this:

So, whatever tailgate I find use the appropriate hinges for that model, whether K or C truck, got it....

Those support flaps that bolt into the K5 tailgate at the bottom, just remove them, I assume?

Yes, all the K5 hinge and torsion spring go away. The new tailgate supports are part of the truck latches. Easiest to find a donor and just grab it all when getting the tailgate but its no big issue to piece together.

Everything he said plus I live in Alabama so 8-9 months out of the year is good here. Actually with the sides down there is almost never a day that I can’t run the heat and cruise it in the winter. Of course I wish I lived in Wyoming and had a Tucker Snocat to cruise in the snow.
Oh well, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

I have a discontinued "white" soft topper and it's very nice on my full vert. Only issue I have is rolling the windows up and opening the doors or the reverse to keep the glass on the correct side I gotta climb out the back hahaha #whitetopsmatter

I tried the tailgate and didn't like the lack of sealing and the extra rattles so i gutted the K5 'gate and put it back on. With no window or mechanism it's a lot lighter and the assist springs still help out. YMMV but it's worth a look.

And I loved my top with the sides and back rolled up too! Makes me want to build another K5 and leave the body on it this time.

One other thing I found was problems with exhaust fumes coming in under some conditions. One build version had the tailpipes terminated under the truck which was fine till it got lifted a couple inches more then I couldn't drive with my windows down or it would suck fumes for some reason. Once we put 90s on the pipes to direct the exhaust out the sides again it was fine. Safe bet is send the pipes out the sides and you probably won't have problems.

Mine dumps before the rear axle down not out..

@Stephen
So you’re saying the non blazer tailgate rattles?
I guess what you’re saying is you took all the window stuff out of the K5 gate and left it? I may do that.

I did notice last time I drove mine with sides down I smelled some fumes but with sides rolled up (open) I never smell any fumes unless I’m sitting still or backing up.
My pipes turn out behind the tires.

One of the guys on here recently installed seals with his truck gate. I’ll see if I can find the thread. My gate does not seem to rattle, or I just can’t hear it over everything else. I do have to slam it shut though.

My truck gate still has a few rattles but I have almost stopped them all. I second the thought that you want exhaust dumped out the side behind the tire.

Welp, I cant afford to do that exhaust modification just yet. I’ll put that on my never ending “to do list” hehehehe
