I've been doing alot of rescearch for a new head unit. It looks like the Clarion DXZ945MP is the best bang for the buck. What's y'all's opinion on the Clarion DXZ946MP ??? I've looked at a Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, and JVC. This Clarion give more features/funtions for the money.

Looks pretty sweet to me... this is for your DD, not offroad rig, right? The reason I ask is the touchscreen, might be a little delicate for an offroad rig.

Unit specs out great, hard to imagine what else you could ask for in a unit?

Eclipse all the way. I like the 8454, you can't beat the 8v preouts, the eIserv and the memory card slot. If you like sound quality Eclipse is the way to go.

I've looked into the Eclipse head units, Very nice, but cost more for the features I want. I would like too have 8v pre-amp outs, but the Clarion DXZ945MP just offers more bang for the buck. It may only be 4v pre-amp outs, (3 sets of pre-amp outs is a must. Fronts, Rears, and non-fading for the sub(s)) but so is my current head unit, and when working right, it sounds awesum. This is for the daily driver.

Yes, for the daily driver. Sold the K5 a few months ago.

You can get pretty good deal on Eclipse stuff on Ebay. I've seen some pop up here and there for around $300.

Ebay is a great place too get deals, but this time around I want a warrenty. Can't always get that with stuff on Ebay.

I've been looking at a Pioneer DEH-P960MP, and a Alpine CDA-9853 pretty hard too, but that Clarion has more features for the money. I'm trying too stay under $350.00 and get the most for the money. I like the idea of the Clarion DXZ945MP for the built in crossovers (Low pass for the subs and high pass for the other speakers, or you can run the full range if wanted), and the display is pretty cool with the touch screen.
