So I started installing the new poly mounts and 1" lift, started at the core support, and here is the first problem I ran into. I checked all of the numbers, etc, everything is exactly where it says it should be. Anyone know whats going on here?

the mount is upside down...

the piece on bottom goes on top and the one with the grooves goes on the bottom....

we were thinking the same thing, but according to the directions I have them in the right spot... bad directions?

Except for the nut/bolt not being tight, is this a trick question? I don't see anything wrong.

don't think i ever got instructions with mine...

either way, yeah that piece you have on the bottom, goes down thru the top, with the narrower section going thu the hole... then the accordion looking one slides over it from the bottom....

Ok, that is as far as it will tighten up, the mount is not tight on the sleeve. Do I need to trim the factory sleeve down? Also, ryoken, I just checked again, we have them in the right place according to the instructions, flipped em around like you said, made no difference, the factory sleeve is still too long.

Thats weird, cause when i did the body lift on my old 75 burb, the body mounts were just like what you have pictured

pretty sure the corrogated goes on the bottom.. this is all from memory tho, as I'm too focking lazy to go downstairs and look.... :doah::crazy::wink1:

You have the mounts in the correct positions. Its the steel washer/tube thing that looks incorrect.

Front radiator support washer/tube things are shorter in length. The one you show appears to be the rear cab mount areas, right behind your butt/back.

A good way to make sure you have the correct washer/tube thing is to put the poly mounts on and the washer/tube thing should be almost long enough or just long enough to sit flush with the 2 pieces of poly pressed together.

Make sense?

set of energy suspension i got for my 73-80 frame pickup truck said you need to cut down the factory tube on some positions to let it fit and tighten up. cant recall now its been 3 years.

I just ended up cutting the factory sleeve. And as to the comment from that k30 guy, those are the ones that were on the core support. Whether some previous owner moved them, who knows. Good ol sawzall fixes all problems:-)

Yep, the very rearward mount tubes need to be cut down to something like 4.5" or something. These are the mounts at the very end of the cab, or right under your back area.

The rest of the tubes at the radiator support and middle cab area are left alone. No cutting on those.

Sounds like someone else did a job on the mounts before and got them mixed up.

If you take them back out to cut them, be aware the tube on those up front right now are a different size than the regular tubes for radiator support mounts.

Measure the ones you have under the RS and tell us how long they are.

I just did my 1" body lift from ORD with poly bushings from Energy suspension a few weeks ago. sweetk30 was right. I had to cut about 1/4" off the factory sleeve on the radiator mounts to get everything to fit right.

I can't see the pic but I think the conical shaped lower bushings are to be used in the front and middle bodymounts. The core support will have the flat style with the metal insert.

Do not use the sleeve with the poly mounts they are designed like the newer style. Ribbed puc on top with the flat "non conical" bushing on the bottom.
