So I looked up the original paint info from the gmpartsgiant.com vin decoder. Ran my vin, this is what came up. Everything looks correct based on what I have/had for options. What I cant figure out is the paint description.

I assumed the door jamb paint was the original Dark Smoke Grey metallic as the body was cheaply painted silver and different from the door jamb. I was way off. Could it be the 96U color?

The real Real Dark Grey Metallic color below. It is a 35 year old truck so obviously could have been painted multiple times, but what I cant find is evidence of it being that Dark Grey color, is it possible only the lower half was painted dark and the upper part, jambs, etc were painted the 96U color, which is basically a white variant from my understanding. Anyone shed light on this?

The dark grey and white two tone paint scheme was an option.
I have seen quite a few

This is what I got after a little searching. It's on the internet so it must be true.

Color Breakdown by Model
    • Corvette / Passenger Cars: Code 96U is Charcoal Metallic (WA9192).
    • Trucks / Suburbans / Vans: Code 96U is Ultra Silver Metallic (WA8867). [1, 2, 3]

Paint Code Tips
    • The "U" Suffix: The "U" simply designates the Upper color body application on factory service parts identification stickers.

Thanks, that would make sense, the WA8867 color being the primary color of the truck as listed in the build sheet. Personally, I like the Dark Smoke Grey Metallic better and that's what I will paint the truck seeing I already did one door jamb.
