Did the hitch frame break and cause the accident or did something else happen and cause the trailer to move then break the frame?

If you are asking about my pictures, the receiver broke probably about the time of the jack-knife. I know people swear by weight distribution hitches, but I think that compounded the road conditions that made the rear of the suburban loose traction. I have been using the trailer a lot recently without the WDH and it tows like it always had, smooth and straight.
maybe something gave out on the suburban at the same time as everything else. Who knows. The highway patrol officer on the scene was insistent on the road conditions being to cause of several accidents there.
