Ouch!

So my brother goes out to fix his water pump (bad gasket) and I decide to watch and point out the hundreds of wires, vacuum lines, leaks, noises, and overall lack of maintenence but somehow I missed the fact that he left the top half of his fan shroud off. Next thing you know my finger is broken...

damn steel reserve...

Lesson learned.

Those fans are built to toss your finger out, not cut it off. The leading edge is towards the engine, so when it spins, if it hits you, you normally hit it in the middle of the fan, and it throws your finger out towards the rad. Not to say that it couldn't take your finger off if you stuck it in too far, and it definite has enough force to break your finger :S

I've managed to get hit by my big fan a few times when I didn't have a shroud on too...
