So my birthday is coming up and my wife surprised me in a big way.

See, I give her a "fun money" checking account where I put some cash in every pay day and she can do with it as she pleases. Well, she surprised me and bought me a Softtopper for my Blazer!

Then my father sent me some cash which is enough to finish my stereo setup - some rear 4x10's and an Infinity powered subwoofer. I'll post up some photos when I get it all setup if anyone is interested.

And here I thought turning 43 was going to be a non-event. :woot:

Thanks guys!

skip the 4x10s and go 6.5" round speakers or 6x9 speakers, it'll sound much better
I agree 100%, but I want to keep the truck as "factory" as possible. I like to keep things clean and unmodified as much as possible.

But don't get me wrong ... I'd love some of those Q-Logic kick panel speaker pods and some Boston 6.5" components in them, and some Boston 2-ways just in front of the rear seat. But I'm trying to be good and save some money. :)

Gah, now the problem ... do I go to lunch and risk missing the UPS guy?

Five Guys hamburgers are calling to me ... :dunno:

Agreed....but the 4x10's suck. And in a blazer, you'll never really notice.

Pick a good set of 6x9's or 6.5's, with a grill appearance you like, and mount in the side panels by the rear seats.

Then just leave the factory 4x0's where they are in the trunk.

Also, why the infinity powered setup? You'll be much happier with a 10" or 12" sub in a sealed box, with separate amp, for the same money. I often cruise craigslist for this type of stuff.

Good luck! Exciting progress!

also, the 5 guys out here you can order it online so its ready to go when you get there....

man a bacon cheese with some cajun fries and a bacon dog sound just about legit right now.

Congrats and damn that means I have to wait 2 years to be spoiled like that.

Enjoy the day and get the burger brown Santa will leave it for you.

I guess it's cool she bought you something, I think the bigger surprise is that you actually give your WIFE an allowance. Craziest thing I ever heard!!

So I risked the burger run and all is well. :woot: It's still not here though ... UPS always seems to stop at my house last. Oh well!

Ah, the 4x10's are okay for an old guy like me. I like the Infinity powered sub, I've had it before. It's small and not overwhelming, and the best part is that I can fit it into the corner and still load stuff in the back. I've had plenty of sealed boxes and whatnot, as I used to do car stereo competitions, and I'd prefer the space nowadays. But like I mentioned, I'd be down for some Boston components when I get more cash. I just hate cutting holes, my truck is bone stock!!! :D

Happy wife, happy life. ;)

In reality all her income goes to our joint checking account which we use for everything. The problem is - get this - she refuses to spend any money on herself. So while I've bought guns, trucks, PS3 games, TV's and whatever else I want, she doesn't buy herself a damn thing, not even clothes or shoes and hasn't in nearly 8 years. I have to FORCE her to buy new stuff! How could you NOT reward a wife like that??? :thumb:

This sounds exactly like my wife. The only thing other than the regular bills and whatnot that she spends any money on for HER is new running shoes every couple months and the occasional marathon or race... I felt guilty BEFORE I quit my job when buying toys, now it's super guilty. Hopefully I find a job quickly once we get to Germany.

Happy birthday and sweet score on the softtopper and the Five Guys...jealous of that last part:waytogo:

And when you setup an account for her, she spends it on you.

Apparently i haven't been following your dating advise close enough. :haha:

Its changed my life.....but I apparently have more to learn :waytogo:

Fair enough on the Infinity, they have their place. Just didnt' remember your level of expertise when it comes to audio stuff, and wanted to make sure your expectations were in line with the product.

Oh the Five Guys was great. I called in my order like I often do, just because you know? Usually I get there, 2 people in line, I wait and then pay, and off I go. Well today I get there and there had to be 25 people in line! :eek1: I walk to the front, the employees all know me, the cashier grabs my card and rings me up while the kitchen crew is shoveling my cajun fries and I am out the door in under 2 minutes. I am sure everyone else was wondering who I was ... in my denim jean shorts. Some hotshot! :haha:

It took me a while to figure out what you were talking about here ... I never heard of that before but that is HILARIOUS!

Yeah, I know, crazy huh? She's a good woman.

My dating advice has worked wonders for me, that's for sure. I wish all guys knew what I learned because it helped me out in more ways that just women.

Thanks for the check-in, I appreciate it. Truth be told I damaged my hearing from my car stereo competitions. At one point my system was cranking out 144db, and guess who didn't wear ear protection? Yeah, stupid young me. Now I cannot hear conversations in noisy environments very well. I got lucky and didn't have more hearing damage, but it's definitely changed things for me. So my stereo ambitions nowadays are a bit more modest!

Happy Birthday Jessie:draw:

I appreciate all yer good advise too.:waytogo:

I got me a good bride to be, for my Birthday she bought me 2.5 BFG Krawlers.

By 2.5 I mean she went in 1/2 on my set of 5.:D:pimp:
