I want to replace the poly bushings in my DIY4x comp motor mounts with rubber bushings without having to switch back to stock style mounts. Is it possible to get a rubber bushing for an application like that? Maybe some sort of metal sleeved leaf spring bushing of the right size???

I have poly cab and motor mounts. The vibes/harmonics are starting to drive me crazy I want to get away from using poly.

I suppose you could use some leaf spring or upper control arm bushings in place of the poly ones, but trying to find out just which ones will fit might prove quite a challenge..

Decades ago I had a Moog catalog that was a "numerical listing",that had all the part numbers and pictures of various suspension parts like coil springs, bushings, etc, and all their dimensions were listed..
I do not know what happened to it,and doubt anything like that exists any more,or online..perhaps the Moog "tech" line guys have access to such listings still ?..

Only thing is the rubber in suspension bushings is also pretty tough, they may not provide much more dampening than poly ones..motor mounts have pretty soft rubber and more of it,in comparison..

shouldn't be that much of a deal or others would be complaining . . . .

you just need a rubber bushing for a 2.5" od and the width it is . . if I recall correctly .

but I think you have other problems . almost all my trucks are poly now for years no problems.

Agreed, my Blazer has all poly bushings throughout and I don't have any vibration issues (of course, I don't expect it to be as smooth as a new Camry).

I contacted a spring shop and they said they have rubber Harris bushings in many sizes.

I wouldn't say that I have a problem. The poly bushings are bearable. It's not like it's rattling me out of my seat or anything. Probably most wouldn't even notice. I just have dreams of my dinosaur truck feeling as comfortable and quiet as a modern pick up. I have all modern drivetrain but everything is poly mounted I figured ditching the poly would be a good place to start.

Switching back to a stock style motor mount would be ideal but I don't think I can really afford to loose much clearance between the LS oil pan and crossmember.

Mostly I can feel/hear the engine a little more than I would like and same goes for the tires/road noise I think through the poly cab mounts. I notice it quite a bit more even comparing to a bone stock truck of the same vintage.

Also I think I am going to try re-hanging the exhaust. It's not mounted with very forgiving hangers right now. In fact it barely moves at all when you try to shake it around from the tail pipe.

swap out your body mounts for rubber first so the cab is isolated better from the chassis.

I think your spinning your wheels and asking for other headaches swapping out the poly in those mounts for rubber given the design.

Could very well be. Body mounts will probably yield the biggest change. I figured it's all worth a shot anyways considering bushings are cheap

you can buy most any soft-material in a liquid from Zoros. you need to know what durameter level you're looking for, but once you know you can order 2 part material and simply pour yourself a new mount. If you really really don't want to go that route, Moog http://www.moogparts.com/#dealerType=physical&country=US has a catalog that lists everything they build. Once you have the part number you need, input it onto Amazon's site and you're golden.
with that said, most poly bushings are just marginally harder then rubber - did you accidentally end up with delrin? what material are you using for your transmission mount?

Transmission mount is stock type. The motor mount are diy4x and they have whatever bushings they come with they are quite rigid

So everything isn't poly mounted then. Motor mount material must match tranny mount material or you can break the tranny case mounts ... or get vibes.

I'm afraid they used Delrin - which is pretty awesome when you can't afford solid bushings (e.g. heim joints) but is pretty terrible at keeping vibrations at bay. Before you go to all the work of changing to rubber - there are several companies that sell plastics - buy a rod of it from them in the OD you need, drill a hole for the bolt, sleeve it and call it a day. There's some pretty soft poly materials that don't degrade like rubber... heck I'd offer some up but I'm not exactly sure where I put it last....

DIY4X mounts are poly, I run the same mounts and they're definitely not delrin.

I was under the impression that it's ok to poly mount the motor and rubber the trans but not the other way around.

Where the heck do I even find rubber cab mounts? I can find some for 73-80 but my cab is an 82. Anything else I can find is poly..
