I'm looking for some tips on keeping output splines from leaking when installing pinion yokes, or output yokes on a transmission for instance.
I recently replaced a rear output seal on my TH400 in my C20 Burb, and while I cured the seal leakage, I've noticed it still leaks a bit from the splines that mate to the yoke. This is an odd setup too because there is no nut at the end, it is more like a slip yoke but I have no idea why since that center support bearing would prevent that yoke from moving around anyway. I did try to clean up all the splines on the tranny output and the yoke as good as possible, and added some RTV to the splines but I guess fluid still finds its way out slowly. The leak is very minor, but it still irritates the hell outta me.
So my same question applies to pinion splines as well. I've seen those little "star pattern" rubber gaskets but I can't find any for one tons.
Maybe I'm over thinking the diffs and concerned about leakage that won't happen?
