I’m wanting to replace all of my outside door handles with new. Anybody know where to get some in black? I’ve found some that GSI sells but don’t need that high end of quality for this build and not looking to spend that kind of money either.

Or can all of the parts be replaced on what I have and I can just have mine powder coated black? I’ve looked for parts and came up short too.

Has anybody ever taken theirs apart? I have yet to find parts to rebuild my current handles. The buttons are starting to break, that's why I was looking at new. Since I haven't found any parts or any handles in black other than what GSI sells I am debating about buying new handles through USA1 Industries or LMC Truck. Then take them apart and take them to a local powder coating place to have the chrome stripped and have them powder coated in black. But Ive never taken them apart. I'm wondering if by doing so you mess up any of the internals?

I've never had one apart except from the door. I know they sell billet push buttons so they do come apart and back. IIRC there's a spring inside and that's about it. Maybe @Fastereddie knows, he's had everything I know apart before.

Its a simple lever on the button. All you need is to punch out the roll pin to remove them from the door. Super easy.

@obijuank5 I'm hijacking real quick. So to remove the door handle from the door is just a pin or are there bolts under the door panel? I need to pull mine off the door to wrap my truck.

Thanks, I'm a dumb ass and figured it was stupid easy. Ive just never looked into it even though Ive had the rear handle off of both burbs swapping them around due to one having the button break. A week after I swapped the "good" one to the burb I was daily driving, it broke.

No there are bolts that hold it to the door(s).

Thank you that was what I was unsure off before taking things apart

I replace the button in the handle on the barn doors.

I used a GM part. I might still have the part number. Don't know if it is still available. I got that button as NOS and I probably had it for years.

I bought those a year ago. I actually sold the Suburban I was looking at door handles for and bought an M1009 blazer to play with instead.
