Thinking of putting a roll bar in the truck. Have the 'hoop' and then two support bars that angle down in the back of the truck. I guess you could call it a 2-point cage? I want to extend the support bars back 12-18" and then angle them down to the floor. Build a small speaker box to house some 6x9's or 6 1/2's to go in the extended part of the support bars.
i've been thinking about putting some 6x9's in some boxes and mounting them above on the roof by the rear a/c, just seems like the only spot that would make the sound travel clear through my burb.
Just be sure to make the boxes big, or not rely on them for any significant bass output. Most car audio 6.5s and 6x9's and designed to run infinite baffle, which generally means placing them in small sealed boxes will hurt their low-end extension.
Not in the K5 but I did in my old 4Runner. I made some boxes to fit the crotch between the front downbar and the rear downbar. Secured them in place with u-bolts and some padding to prevent a lot of vibration. I angled them in at the bottom just a bit to let any water run off (when topless) and the secured the face with some stainless screws. Sounded pretty good for a truck in highschool that all I wanted to do was play in the mud with.
