Any advice or ideas on this issue? Drum brakes on my 82 or 85 14bsf axle (drivers side) is over adjusting itself. Literally rest foot on brake and the one side locks up. Drive in reverse, locks up. Just re-set the adjuster and lube it then forget it, or what?

For what its worth, I cut the emergency brake lines when I pulled it from the donor truck when I swapped it into the truck its on now. Eventually I plan to replace the parking brake system, but right now its kinda a mess and don't want to fix the parking brakes till it gets closer to being streetable. Biggest issue is its going into an old CJ7 as my trail beater, not really sure what sort of conglomeration of parts I need to run the two systems for the parking brakes to work.

Really appreciate any advice!

I don't have the parking brake cables hooked up on mine. I bet you need new adjustors.

Is it not necessary to keep tension on the arm that attaches to the brake adjuster because of the cross bar with spring that goes from that arm to the front shoe?

Rock auto has a break adjustor repair kit for just under 5 bucks each to about 16. So yah lube em up and stuff but that's pretty cheap to fix it right

So get new adjusters.

Do I delete this arm and the ebrake cable then? What about the spreader bar with spring?

Make sure the star wheels are for the correct side - they're side specific. So if they're on the wrong side every time you step on the brake going forward they will adjust when they are actually only suppose to adjust when you apply the brakes going in reverse.
