i have an 1989 with an np465 trans and was wondering if anyone knows of a company that makes an overdrive for it.

New Venture makes an overdrive for it...it's called the NV4500 :D

where can i get one of those? if anyone has looked at my other posts im trying to build an insane offroad monster that is still practical as a heavilly used DD. here is a link of what would be neat but with a body on it.

Check it out it has an EXTREMELY low center of gravity and big tires. okay monster tires. would it be my best choice to start with a truggy and then add a body and a top?

That Garbee fellow...he took the Ranger out of his truck. I forget exactly why, I believe it says there. Too noisy, or something along those lines.

It would be nice, but kinda pricy. That and people always ask about it on bulletin boards like here and Pirate (myself included) and no one really runs one. I'd think that if they were so awesome, more peepole would run them, but it's just not the case.

What I think would be interesting would be to retrofit an auxiliary transmission from a larger truck that has an OD, because they also had lower gears. Then you get OD + a doubler. But, a few snags with this. If you wanted to take full advantage of the doubler, you'd have to run the auxiliary transmission divorced behind the tranny, then a divorced transfer behind that. Can we say 4 driveshafts? :eek1: Plus, your rear shaft would be Jeep length, and you'd need a carrier bearing or two for your front shaft. Not to mention these old auxiliary transmissions arent exactly growing on trees, they are actually really hard to find unless you have access to a big truck junkyard.

Optimally? I agree with Rene. NV4500 or its ilk.
