what are you guys running for overdrives in your rigs? overdrive trans? gear vendors?

Just finished an NV4500 swap in my crew cab. What a difference. Dropped 700 rpm's.

700r4 and other than the freeway rpm's I can't say I'm in love with it. It's coming out for a 400 pretty quick here.

yeah i have a th400 now, how is the 4l80 for strenght? will a built one handle 450-500 hp 550+ tq? and 38" tires. the front and rear will be geared to 4.88 or 5.12

4l80-e = th400 plus overdrive and lockup convortor.

if overdrive is going in and 38" tires = deep as you can on gears . like you posted 5.13

few good threads here on 4l80-e and nv4500 swaps.

so whats the downside? does it use a TV cable? are they larger than a th400 this meaning new driveshafts? excuse my ignorance.

Downside, IMO, is cost- expensive tranny, expensive to rebuild, needs expensive stand alone controler... can buy a lot of gas for those expenses

:sign24:

and tons of info here on nv4500 and 4l80-e just need to hit the search button.

and yes 4l80-e is about 2" longer than th400. can be done on the cheeper than full custom computer. thay make full man control kits but you must shift all the time.

and what kind of engine combo and fuel system you got now this will help pin point what ya need.

I currently Have a carbed 454. I plan on installing a new fuel system using a electric pump and return style regulator. And I don't want to shift a auto haha.

if you want auto then built 700r4 is basic swap in other than basics like drive shafts and tcase you want to use.

if you dont want to shift then no nv4500 i guess.

and if you want carb and 4l80-e then need full kit for stand alone use.
