My last update was on March 24 and here is a link to that thread. https://ck5.com/forums/threads/its-been-a-while.349621/
The day after that post, I went to the beach for three days to clear my head, and when I came back, I took the gas tank out.
This is what a Panama beach looks like just in case you were wondering --
Taking the gas tank out was horrible. It took me two days and a lot of swearing. Something I don't think I'd do again even if I was paid haha. Once I did, we cleaned the tank. The bottom had some weird jello looking thing. For some reason I don't have pictures of that. We also replaced all hoses and the filter mesh-like thing at the end of the pump.

After a lot of work and little reward, I started to loose interest in the car. It sat in my backyard like that until April 13. I think that's when I bought the replacement hoses. I kept working on and off. I had a cousin come over to my house on April 27, and we tried to get the Blazer started. So I think that's the day I put the tank back in. It didn't want to start. I think it ran for a couple seconds maybe. Mind you it hadn't been started since I had parked it on March 24th. And again, the car sat. I was busy with school on weekdays and on weekends I was with friends or I just didn't want to work on it. I only saw the Blazer on weekends, so working on it during the week wasn't possible.
It sat for so long, in fact, that I actually graduated, had my graduation party, and once again went to the beach. After a very long wait, we also started to work on the 1972 Ford Bronco. That was my daily driver during 2022, at 16. I went mudding with it, and a week later it developed a noise in the clutch and it sat because we couldn't find the part. Anyways this is a Chevrolet group, so I'll keep it short and sweet. That is another interesting story, so if anyone wants me to ramble about it just let me know.
Graduation - of course I had to graduate with honors
I just remembered that the Blazer also sat because the steering column was shot. We bought one from a different year and make of a truck. It had the same transmission, but the one we bought was around 3 inches short. 3 inches makes a world of a difference, don't let anyone tell you otherwise! We took it to someone who frankensteined both columns to make one functional one, and that was installed on June 18th. Got a little sidetracked there.
I was procrastinating putting on the 5/8 hose that is a vent I believe. So I bought that hose, moved the car to a concrete surface, and installed the whole back end. During this time, the car was running as if it had a massive cam in it. It wasn't a cam. It was a misfire. I don't think the car was running on all 8 cylinders. I took out a fuel filter and just left a direct hose because it was a little kinked. We raised the idle, but that didn't fix it. We were chasing that mis for two days before we checked spark plugs. I hate pulling spark plugs because there is never any space. I'll include a picture of the spark plugs. The car definitely wasn't lean. I should've known that since I bought the car back in January. It looked like a diesel with the amount of black smoke it puffed out. That's a little exaggerated, but you get my point. One of the spark plug wires was very old at when I took it out it left it's guts attached to the spark plug, so it made it even harder to get out.

After we cleaned and reinstalled them, which took several hours, a couple threats to the car, and some damning of the person who made the headers we got them all installed. The car instantly sounded happier. My dad and I high fives, hugged, laughed a laugh of relief. We were very happy, and everyone in the neighborhood heard.
Video clip of the car - (we are taking the car to hopefully get a full 2.5 inch exhaust tomorrow. The current one is rusted out).
Now we are here, today. It's been two days since I started working on the Blazer again. Early mornings and late nights. This was supposed to be a car that we were going to fix and flip for some easy cash, but I just can't do it. I told my parents yesterday that I fell in love with the truck, and I just can't part with it. It's the first car under my name. I'm the one doing all of the work to it. I honestly think I'd be physically sick if I sold it after all of this hard work. This post was supposed to be about questions about the radio and speakers, and some troubles I'm having with the gauges, but I'll make that its own thread. So please help me out with that haha.
