Has anyone ever installed one on a 2nd gen k5? If so, can you post pics and specs? I've been kind of kicking around the idea and would like to know what a good donor vehicle would be to get one from. I thought a couple of extra lights would be nice in the cab since the factory ones aren't all that bright. A good sized DVD in the back for the kids would be good. Any thoughts? Thanks guys!

Wow! That is really sharp! Looks alot better than I thought it would. Thanks for the link. That's great info. I may just eventually put a screen on both sides so the kids will have one each, but that will be later down the road.

Ever see the ones in Silverado 89-91 suburbans? I used one of those by cutting it shorter. I was re-doing the headliner anyway, but it was basically a requirement to make it fit. It looks sharp and fits the era of my rig. The map lights are really handy, but for dome lights it's really not very bright. I even added diodes so that all four map lights come on when the dome lights are on. Part of the problem is that the dome lights shine through white plastic. Bigger bulbs might melt something, so I have thought about getting a bunch of white LEDs to replace the bulbs. The other drawback is that there is less headroom if somebody wants to climb over the console into the back. That's usually not a problem, but it could be an issue with a bench seat truck.

I have to find the pictures, though.

No I haven't seen them but I bet it's really sharp. Pics would be great if you could find them then I could start my hunt for mine. I just had my headliner redone before the lift but that shouldn't be a problem.

For lights, I was thinking of yanking out that little ceiling light that's not very bright, making the opening bigger (if necessary) and installing some of these:

I have 2 sets in my Van, and the front set is about in the same location as the ceiling light in the K5. They work pretty good, and I also thought I'd maybe get a couple of the single lights and put them under the dash, or whereever. The fact that they swivel makes them easy to put light where you need it, they good pretty good, and they're cheap!

I know it's not an overhead console, just throwing another idea at you.

I snapped a new pic:

damn that does look sweet. i wonder if i could somehow glass that into the 72 Top? my 89 has a sunroof so that won't work either!
