Overhead console

Has anyone found an overhead console that has the temperature/compass display on it that somewhat matches the roofline on the 73-87s? I grabbed one out of a bronco (eek) at a junkyard, but some of the numbers are burned out so Id have to get a new display and it will need a fair bit of massaging to match the roof.

Anyone seen anything they think would work?

i grabbed one out of a 95 fullsize blazer at the junk yard years ago and it seemed like it would be an easy fit but never got around to it.

did it have the compass/temp display? Yes I know, mallcrawlerish question, but hey, I think itd be sweet.

the one I grabbed didn't have that option, but another one did have a display. I wanted the blank one to mount switches

Why dont you just get a rear view mirror out of a newer truck with the compass and temp on it?

My dad put one out of a Dodge minivan in his truck. Covered it with truck headliner material, fits good, looks like it's supposed to be there.

I fit one in from a minivan, so it didn't match the roofline. I reworked the headliner so that it came down into the console from the top (I needed to re-do the headliner anyway). The whole headliner is covered with headliner material, which is available at any local fabric shop, so you don't notice that it's not supposed to fit there. You can get plastic dye/paints for the plastic.

I don't know of one that's a perfect fit, but truck to truck should be the closest.

You can do this, http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/interior/overhead_console.htm. I'm pretty sure they came in that style with the features you want. Some day, I plan on doing the same. I already picked up the console off ebay for 50 bucks shipped.
