any1 running 1,..are they worth a crap? i just read the install on 1 in one of the rags, while the wifey shopped. so how about that cable locker? is it some thing when i get stuck 3-wheeling, pull it out like a manual choke and drive or back out?

i also skimmed an article about a super 60 front axle, basically just looked at the pics b/c i was bein rushed, seems the regular d60 not the top dog anymore, that super 60 side by side pics beside a reg d60, looked like a d60 beside a d44, i didn't get to see what they are in, if anything or sum'n new for us to build! any1 else seen it?

super 60's are what Ford built with the F-550 series trucks in mind. Built to hand a 9000 front axle gross weight, 33in tires, 5.38 gears, and over 600ft lbs of torque. Introduced in 2004 in Fords F-450 and F-550 Super Duty's.

Ox lockers are cable actuated, doesn't require wiring or on board air, fairly straightforward positive engagement for a selectable locker. No personal experience on my part, but i've heard mostly good feedback on them.

Several guys in our club installed Ox lockers several years ago shortly after they came out. They all have constant trouble keeping the cable actuators adjusted correctly so they can actually get the diff to lock.

Whether the design has been revised since, they just did a poor install/routing of the cable, are not adjusting it correctly......or just a poor execution of design I don't know. I do know that everybody in our club is very hesitant to install them because of this.

I heard they came out with some new revision that cured the problems with the first ones. They also supposedly have air- and electrically-accuated versions now.

My biggest problem with the ox is that you have to use the dif cover that comes with is. If you already have a beefy dif cover your out the extra cash. There cover is not nearly as beef as many of the aftermarket ones.

their diff cover is part of the reason i like it, i don't have to drill no holes or make passages for air lines or wires were there was none!

I have had Ox lockers in three different vehicles and have loved them. The first series required a lot of adjusting the last set I installed in my old 04 TJ set up once and adjusted a few times and was good to go. the only thing to watch is running the cable make sure it way from everything suspension wise.

I have an '05 F550 4x4 that I have been thinking of putting a locker in the front. Had thought about a Ox Locker, but hadn't checked into it. Was glad to see the magazine article on the Super 60 axle.
Now to justify the expense, as the locker would only be used a few times in the winter feeding cows and moving bales.
An ARB looks appealing, but is more expensive yet.
Have a foctory limited slip in the rear, which is better than nothing I guess.
