ox locker?

Thanx for the awesome information. When you do a google search for Ox it must come up with their old website or something, because it doesn't work. And as you pointed out, something was afoot, but I'm glad to hear they are good, because I really want to get an Ox Locker within the next few months.

A couple guys in our club have them, one of them just bought a new pair and installed them this summer. The other guy has had one in the front of his Jeep for a couple of years now.

The guy who had one in for awhile now constantly has problems keeping the shifter adjusted correctly so he can actually lock the diff. He does the work himself so it's not like he has to take into a shop to work on it, but I can't guarantee it's not an installation problem either.

I've been on one ride with the other guy since he's installed the lockers and they seem to shift find, though he did say he spent a bunch of time adjusting them after the initial installation.

The biggest drawback is that they are pretty pricey. On the trail, or on the road between trails, their is no obvious advantage that you can see which the vehicles with selectable lockers have over equivalent vehicles with full-time lockers.

I don't mind adjustments. I really like the bombproofness and mechanical simplicity. I can't wait.

If you don't mind crawling underneath the vehicle in the middle of a trail to adjust it....................

Response from OX

I just found this thread and thought I could shed some light on our situation. My name is George Seiler and I am the Brand Manager for OX. Unfortunately I am not the owner. Yes we were sold over two years ago to Florida Manufacturing Group. No we are not owned by 4wparts. They are a customer of ours, but so are others.
We are indeed in a much better position that we have ever been. Our sales at the there highest and we have product on the shelves as well as new stuff in development. We have nothing to hide and I will answer any question to the best of my abilities.

To those of you who have used our stuff thank you. To the rest, when the time is right I hope you consider our products.
Thank You
George

I'm just waiting for some Ox lockers for GM axles (14 bolt especially). I just checked out the site and was disappointed to find you don't make any for a single GM axle. A Rockwell 2.5ton would be even better!

We looked at the 14 bolt, but most people I spoke with seemed to favor a spool. It hard to compete with a $200 spool. How much interest do you all see for a locker for that app? Keep in mind we are a small company so we try to really understand the interest before we jump into new projects. But if I wanted to measure interest this is probably the forum for it. Any thoughts.

Your product looks beefy as hell, but when you can get spools, mini-spools, and detroits for under $500, I doubt there'd be much of a market for it.

I think the easiest way to gauge interest would be to see how well the 14 bolt ARB sells.

Well obviously I'd get one. I'm a big fan of survivability, and the idea of always having to keep an air compressor or electrical system working bothers me. I favor manual actuation, which the Ox has, and it is definately beefy. Spools are great, but running around locked all the time isn't the way to go. So I'll probably wait around several months and see if a 14b Ox comes out, then I'll get a spool for economics, and then wait for the 14b some more.

Yea that is a difference. Most 14b guys I have spoke to use them in buggies that are strickly off-road. Let me look into this somemore.

Yes, please keep looking into it. In my area I would say most 14b ff guys use detroits in full body rigs and drive at least occasionly on the street. Build an ox price competitive with the arb and we will come.

How much more expensive are the OX then the ARB? If it's $100 or less I think it's worth it. These OX look nearly indestructible.
