I have a friend that wants very badly to lock his Dana 44, but the problem being is that he's running a 388ci with 4.56 and a detroit in the back. i told him that maybe a OX locker or an air locker? any experiences with either?? Thanks

Ryan

im gonna be a jerk and say, y not take the money from buying an ox or arb and build up a D60? sounds like he has enough power to blow the d44 up.

I run the ARB up front and so far have had no problems. The main benefit of the OX is that you don't have to worry about your air system failing like the ARB, but you do have to run the cable to actuate it.

There was a thread on this a while back... Didn't Ox go under? I like the idea of an ox better. But, if they arent around for support and warranty it may not be worth it.

it a 1/2 T with 36" boggers and 15" wheels ;)

Whats the point, I run 15s on a Dana 60. If you are set on a selectable I would say ARB, no personal experience but I have not heard many good things about OX and I too thought they went out of business.

If you just want to lock it go detroit.

What about a limited slip diff, I just think that he will shatter axles if he puts a locker in it.......

and you run 6 bolt wheels on a dana 60???? :haha: :bow::bow:

Or you could run 5 lug if you are so inclined.:D

This works really well if you are converting your 2wd to 4wd you can keep the same wheels.:haha::haha:
yeah i might just do that.lol.
id go arb for the selectable locker.they have been around longer and have perfected what they sell.the aussie locker is awesome for a solid lunch box locker.never heard of anyone really doing any damage to it.

wasnt looking to put a dana 60 in......... already has nice 6 bolt Aluminum wheels..........................

You didn't say they were aluminum. As for 6 or 8 lug there are companies that make 5, 6 and 8 lug hubs for 60s now.

As for the locker question with boggers no matter what you put in it chances are you will break stuff. It just comes with the territory:D.

I personally run a welded front cause Im a cheap focker:D

thanks, Dana 60's are few and far between here in iowa and when you do find one the guy knows what he has. what about moser or an aftermaket axle. Can you make a 44 as strong as a stock 60?

You might be able to get a 44 close to a stock 60 but it will cost as much or more as putting a 60 in it.

if you got a built engine,it doesnt matter what kind of axle you have.it all depends on how you drive it.lower gearing and mad horsepower means breaking stuff is going to be a normal part of your wheeling.some guys break rockwell axles with half as much horses under the hood.there is only so much you can do to an axle and then something has to give if its pushed too far.a 44 can be built to be as strong as a stock 60.it will cost bucks to do it.but in the end you try to do what you can for what you got and hope it wont break.go arb.it is a stronger case and not many people can break them.
