OX ujoints or CTM's

Re: OX ujoints or CTM\'s

I believe that most will blow an R/P set up, but you Russ, I am guessing it will be a leaf spring twisted a full circle around the axle tube. j/k

On/off topic. I found a guy on PB that can cryo a 806 or 760. Sells them for around $55 for a 760 and $70 for an 806. Would that be as strong enough for full spicer 35 spline on the 60?

Re: OX ujoints or CTM\'s

That's why links are in my future... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: OX ujoints or CTM\'s

Ok boys, if you want to go there...... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Lets not forget that for many runs, and I do mean many runs, before you guys were on them.... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I ran all the trails and that includes Woodies wash, Upper and lower terminator, Axle Alley, Florence Junction, Upper & Lower Woodpecker, Upper & Lower Ajax, Moab twice, not including dump bump, Upper & Lower Helldorado, with help on upper Helldorado, 4 Days in Farmington NM, 2 trips to Parker AZ, Miners Revenge in Superior, and countless and I mean countless trips to Florence Junction, overall I think at least 2 years of wheeling hard on "Stock Axles" /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif, I think maybe 4 axles /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif with the exception of the last 2 months when the grenade went off in a few runs the breakage started /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif. And as most that have wheeled with me know, I rarely take the easy line. /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

So boys dish out the laughs /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif, cause I think it's funny too..... The joke is, I have wheeled and still wheel on 1/2 ton axles HA!!! /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif When you take all the same lines that I take and have run all the same runs that I have run, you then can poke fun at 1/2 ton gear /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif.... HA!!!! Seems like the jokes on you guys /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif, us half ton guys as still out there, still taking the same hard line, still having fun. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

See you on the trail

Re: OX ujoints or CTM\'s

How much are links and where can I find them? Would they work in a stock application? I keep blowing my right front. The inner, stub, and hub. I'm on hub set #two in three months. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Re: OX ujoints or CTM\'s

Sorry, got a little off topic. I was talking about links n coils to ditch my leaf springs that I routinely bend the stew out of...

Yeah, I can vouch for that. Rob *ALWAYS* takes the hardest lines. I try to follow him but I can't! /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif I see him getting ALL twisted up, getting hung up, having to adjust and twist, and OOOHHHH gotta adjust, feeling that bind on the axle, better adjust a little more. Man, I really wish I could run those lines.... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I try and try. I watch everything he does and I try to follow him exactly... but it just doesn't work. He can play on an obstacle for 10... 15 minutes easy some times. But even though I try, I can't seem to get that line! I always just pop right through, just makes me sick I tell ya! Sometimes I even back up and try again, thinking maybe I can get it right. Nope, never works, pop right through again... I try it backward, forward, heck, even side ways and I just can't seem to find that cool line Rob took... <sigh>

Re: OX ujoints or CTM\'s

Just a suggestion Matt, and only my 2 cents, so take it for what it's worth. I know you don't mean anything by it, it's probably all in fun, but his rig kicks a$$, and Rob is a hell of a driver and mechanic. He has the seat time and experience to back it up. He knows what he's doing.

CTM vs OX, I'd go with with Rob's opinion, because of his attention to detail...

Re: OX ujoints or CTM\'s

Daa your in a first gen and first gens ROCK!@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ya I wheeled with ya but you couldn't follow me /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Man I miss Moab...that is one of the most increadable trips I have ever made and my rig just LOVED it!!!!
YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABBC!!!!!
You Zoneies ROCK! /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

There now you don't have to research or think about it /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Re: OX ujoints or CTM\'s

Hmm, are you talking about my post Fred? If so, that was just me cutting up with Rob a bit. I have the utmost respect for Rob's skills and his truck, and I give his suggestions/opinions a great deal of weight. Maybe I should have put another smiley on it or something…

Re: OX ujoints or CTM\'s

No no Russ, I was just giving Rob credit where credit is due /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. He's the #2 amigo after all /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif ALL the AZ boys are a GREAT bunch /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif! Just wanted to make sure that people understand running 1/2 ton gear isn't a bad thing, and you CAN wheel 1/2 ton, and have a lot of fun doing it /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

Re: OX ujoints or CTM\'s

Fred, (and anybody else wondering my actual stance) I totally agree. After seeing Rob drive his heavy weight blazer sideways on woody's wash, among other trails, I was beyond impressed. I value Rob's opinions to the highest amount. I am just a sarcastic SOB. He does stuff in 1/2 ton gear that some compeition rigs can't get near (for real folks). I brought up the cryo spicers for my own use in the 60 cause full on CTM's will just blow something else up. I honestly would have gone a totally different route if I would have met Rob 3 years ago (gefore I went 3/4T) I probably would have kept the 10/12B combo and thrown moser shafts in the 12B w/detroit. Seeing his rig spank a 5+ trail is amazing (the grin on his face of *oh ya* is awsome too). I want bigger tires now so I had to get king pins. The only reason I made the bet on the hubs was that Rob wheels so hard and always trys something different, he will find the next weekest link.
Nothing ment personal or in an attack like manner. My appologies if it was found otherwise.

Back to the ctm -vs- ox
I did some research and found the OX at first were a little better than the CTM. OX left a little more engineering and design off when mass production came around (same happened to their locker). CTM seems to continue improving on design and the actual product (not its production).
They are both awsome parts but I saw and OX yesterday and they look like a lot of time was put in them to make them pretty. my .02 /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
