 Im going to buy a selectable locker. This week and im torn between OX and ARB. Its going in a front 60 that will be drivin to the trail. Air line + compresor vs cable. A point was brought up that the air line will be more friendly on a flexy suspension than a cable.
the OX is about 30.00 cheaper than the ARB.
Thanks

With the OX you only have one choice of cover, the one that comes with it. When it breaks you're done.

OX, positive engagement. No "are both spinning?"
 What does this mean?

An air leak with an ARB means you are left asking someone else if both are spinning. OX is cable, there isn't any question if it's engaged. Not techno-phobia...just less chance of the locker not working with an OX IMO.

Rene is correct about the potential of the leaking internal o-rings.

However I have not really seen or heard of that being a common issue with ARBs.

They have proven to be reliable for every person that I know and have spoken with that has them.

I would not make a potential leaking o-ring a part of the decision making process.

Yeah, Ive already deciced to go with the ARB. I heard that OX is Fuct as far as customer service is concerned and all thier R&D is at the consumers expense.:eek1:

Just my observance but I've heard a lot about the Ox lockers being troublesome to keep engaging and working correctly. Seems to be a common complaint amoung the Jeepers with them.

Also noticed it's never been as big of a success as they were projecting for. YEARS ago when it was new they had a long ass list of future applications and I'm not sure they've even covered all of the Dana's yet.

You know people with lockers?

I have always heard that the premature O Ring failure issue with ARB's has long been fixed. I know of only one person (my brother) that had O ring issues, and that was a long time ago with a 10 bolt, and could have been installation error as much as part quality issues.

I recall Steve Fox having air leaking problems with his too...can't remember if it was an air line, an 'O' ring or something related to the installation though.

I say ARB. I have them in my 60 and 14bolt and i love them. if your installing pay attention to the o-rings so you dont pinch them and they will be fine. also make sure to run your air line in a mannor that they cant be snagged on anything or have a hole rubbed in them. i spent a few extra bucks and ran gas line over my air line to save me the possible issue of having a hole rubbed in it. i would also recommend getting a spice kit for the air line and keeping it on hand just in case. can never be too safe IMO.

My vote is for an ox. I have wheeled with alot of guys with arbs and oxs and the guys with the oxs might have a bit of trouble shifting them in sometimes, but the arb guys are always getting air leaks, I mean always. I have come to hate arbs. I know lots of guys love them but I have seen to many rigs that had them that they didn't work on

I don't know anything about the OX-locker but I know several people who have ARBs and they all have problems with them one way or the other. They're leaking, compressor won't start etc.
The compressor definetly doesn't like cold weather.
What I've seen of ARBs is enough for me to not want one.

I have been real happy with ARB in my 60 and 14. I did burn up the crappy factory plastic lines, replaced them with the stainless ones and havent had any issues. I have never had issues with leaking or engaging. One time I did have a little trouble getting the rear to disengage but the truck had been sitting up on a ramp for a very long time and as soon as I did a turn it broke open. I am not a huge fan of how the ox shifts and the fact that you can run any other type of covers. If you banged that one up just a little I would think it could possible tears some stuff up, I have never wheeled one so thats just opinion though.
