My 77s Power steering is not happy, its jerky and slow.

Is that the box or the pump? The fluid is full.

vehicle off .

remove cap .

watch fluid and level .

have someone start the motor .

if no change then its the pump .

.

but by the sounds prob a pump .

Nice! I`ll try that tomorrow!

Got a pump or 2 hanging around...not positive if I got a 4x4 box though.
Got a 2 wheel one I`ve been saving for it.

Thanks! :thumb:

Check the belt tension and even check the belt itself. If the belt slips then you'll get the same symptoms you have.

Got a chance to play with it yesterday...turns out the belt was a bit loose.

Got my kid to start it while I looked in the pump, nothing funny going on there, just some nasty looking oil!

seems to be working good now.

doller store turkey baster .

1 qt p/s fluid and empty jug .

engine off suck out . refill .

fire up and turn left / right 2-3x .

re rain / fill till all new fluid is used .

good basic fluid swap out.

Good tip! Thanks!

I feel like a amateur over looking the loose belt. :doah:
Also the bottom bolt going into the block is striped so I cant tighten it,and it wont come out.

I`m just going to leave it for now, till I replace the engine.
