So i am going to the sand dunes and was thinking about paddle tires, i know nothing about them. I searched on here and did not see much anyone know where you can buy them and how you would normally pick them out?

going to Silver Lake?
Are you trailering it?
I don't think you can run paddles on the roads @ S/L anymore....but you can change them over in the parking lot.

Yea i am going to sliver lake, i dont plan on trailering the truck there, so i figured i would have to change them. I get better milage driving the blazer than i do towing it with my dmax

Theres no way i would ever use a paddle on asphalt EVER...Chews em up in a hurry and they're pricey....Back in the day that I ran dunes paddles were usually double what knobbies were. I never ran a fullsize rig but on quads I always ran skat trak taller haulers....initial purchase was expensive but the paddles could be removed and revalcunized pretty cheap. None of the places I ever bought my stuff stocked them but ordered them in for me and I beleive skat will make special order tires or vulcenize paddles on to whatever you want.

How many ponies are you getting from that blown LS? You typically use a smaller diameter paddle than you would a trail tire, so maybe those 4.11s would be fine.

The question in my mind is "where do you leave the extra set of tires?"

After doing 0-60 runs with my truck last night and getting 5.93 seconds that means i am getting approximately 450 hp at the rear wheels, thats with hummer tires rims and runflats

If you are putting down some power to the ground don't bother with these...

Well, I guess it depends on what you want to do. I was using 36x14" TSLs most of the weekend, and I bolted these on for about an hour or less to try them. They did make it easier to climb hills at light throttle, and it didn't dig down as easy, so there was a difference if that's what you are looking for. However, when it comes to a drag race they didn't make any difference at all. They would spin a lot and throw a boatload of sand backwards, and make deep ruts, but as far as acceleration goes I did exactly the same with or without them. I think once you start making more power than a stock/very mild V8, you need to get the big scoop type paddles made from drag slicks with bonded cup shapes on them. Those small short paddle blades weren't enough, definitely not worth the hassle over a good offroad tire unless you are just looking to tool around.

The 16" paddle help but aren't as effective as a 20" on a wide rim. If you still can't hook up the 20''s, Stak trak modded drag slick is the next option.
Gearing plays a big factor too. I run 3.73 with the 205 (1.98) in low range which is 7.3854 between the two. I'm running a 31'5 slick with the super scoopers. With that low of gear and small of tire, I was still getting about 20% slippage though the torque converter. I going to try going to a tighter converter next time.

I've seen someone with 5.13 in high range and a 36" slick with supper scoopers get into the high 4 sec range (100 yards track).

I'm probably still going to be experimenting with different combos.
