Painless wiring harness?

Good choice. You won't regret it.

We installed a Painless #10405 in the 76 Blazer over the summer. It was our first wiring job, so it took longer than expected. But the prior owner chopped up a lot things. They suggested 40 hours. Probably took us a 100. We believe we could do it again in 40. We were very methodical, working one section at a time, disconnecting the old, and replacing with the new.

One suggestion: Painless does not supply ground wires. You'll save time on testing later if you replace each ground as you go, making sure the metal-to-metal contacts are solid. Their instruction book is good. But we have a bastardized truck, so not everything matched. Their customer service was very helpful, offering different suggestions. As this was our first, having a competent support team backing us up was a comfort. Don't be shy about calling. We know three techs by name.

Let us now how it goes!

I am using the EZ 21 from ezwiring.com and I am very pleased. $165 for the harness and I am very pleased wires labeled every 5" and seems to be good quality. Mine truck is a frankenstein of several parts from different years so I wasn't comfortable buying the Painless truck kit. The only part I don't like about this harness is that it doesn't have the bulkhead connector ie oem and painless but that is something I can live with to save a couple hundred $. BTW this is one of the harnesses advertised in classic truck and they have reviewed it as being of very good quality in the past.
