paint/bedliner rocker panels AND mouldings. would it look funny?

i already painted (not technically paint) my rocker panels and door bottoms up to the moulding. after having it like that for a few weeks, i decided to pull the moulding off and paint higher, but according to a thread on here, the side mouldings are bolted on, so i'd end up with holes down the sides of my k5. if anyone on here has painted over the mouldings or painted higher and left them as-is (mine are fake chrome factory ones), did it look funny? any pics?

i can visualize it looking ok, but if real-world evidence is available, i'd like to see it.
