I'm trying to find some spray paint for my Blazer but not 100% sure of the correct RPO code. I think it's "98U" but I can't translate that into a usable paint code with Duplicolor, etc. Can anyone point out which code it is?

That was it, THANKS!

So much for cheap matching touch up paint - $32.99 can. :doah:

Black Sapphire Metallic

Does that sound right?

yeah I hear ya....lol

I need to spray a bumper on my tahoe and I think it might up being a $100 in cans :haha:

It sort of sounds right LOL. Yeah, officially it's "Black Sapphire Metallic" but it's actually a very dark blue in spite of the name. paintref.com describes it as a blue using that name and "midnight blue". I'm hoping to find a cheaper duplicolor or plastikote spray can to cover my orange windshield frame.

that's the name it pulled when I looked it up too.

Ebay was the cheapest on the cans when I looked but I was just looking for factory white and some clear.

Yeah, black sapphire metallic. My old '90 Burb was the same color, a very very dark blue. People often thought it was black until I parked it next to my black Burb,

What are you trying to paint? Just the windshield frame?

Full disclaimer: I didn't paint my truck. The painters at my shop did. No way I could have done the job they did, that's for sure!

At the moment I just want to paint the windshield frame and some "B" pillar patched I'm adding, ultimately I want to paint the truck. I'm not looking to make it as nice as yours, just make it a 20 ft'r.

Hats off to the people that are capable of painting a vehicle, get the results that are wanted, and enjoy doing it. The fiberglass top on my '90 Jimmy was getting pretty faded having been sitting for about 8 years. Taping off the top that is going to be painted was a nightmare for me. Getting the prep right isn't anywhere near as easy as it sounds or looks, at least if you want something that doesn't look like a 1st. grade class did it. I'm glad that I didn't plan on doing it for a living, I'd have had to do something else to make a living, maybe sweeping and wetting the shop floor.

I decided to do the fiberglass and a few other "minor" spots. Did I mention that I don't have a garage or a car port. I got some Duplicolor paint that on the metal touch ups, you couldn't tell where it was, but when I sprayed the fiberglass, it came out a completely different color.

After several other unusual events, I finally got the sides and back primed yesterday. I still have the top to go.

I should mention that several of the members have been very patient and helpful with my "minor" project.

I didn't mean to steal the thread, so I'll just say, I hope that things work out easier and better for y'all

Have a good one, Paul.

I'm in the same boat, I have zero talent for bodywork.

I've got no talent, know how, tools, area to do it inside, but I'm too stubborn to not do it.

I was looking at the soft tops last night. They look pretty good, but then I couldn't leave anything in the truck and that's one of my simi-secure storage areas for my stuff.

Good Luck, nvrenuf
