Hi all,

Just wondering if there is anyone out there who can tell me where to find the paint code for my truck?

I have a 1986 Full Size Jimmy/Blazer K5 in Metallic Brown and Cream.
I need to get the code as I want to get to work on a few of the rust bubbles that are starting to creep up, get em while there small eh ;-)

Anyway, any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Sam in the UK.

I believe that would be on your RPO tag. Sorry no links to anything explaining it at this time, but gnttype.org at one point had an RPO decoder that worked for this sort of stuff.

Okay, I've found out that I should have a tag in my glove box listing all the RPO codes on my truck, unfortunately it doesn't seem to be there anymore, it must have been removed at some point in the past!

Can I find this information anywhere else?

I think the correct names for my truck colors are:

Indian Bronze Metallic
Doeskin Tan

I really need to locate these paint codes for my truck!

Don't think they were ever put anywhere else in the truck that late. You can check the fender (driver or passenger) but I think that stopped around '83, when they moved to the glove box.

If you know the names, it shouldn't be a big deal to find the matching RPO. RPO list is in my parts manual, if someone else doesn't get them for you before I get home.

My parts manual covers '85-88, and makes no differentiation on the paint codes for year. So hopefully no problems there.

Here is what it's got:

Order of numbers is GM Code, Fisher WAEM code, Du Pont, Rinshed-Mason, Ditzler

Bronze Metallic (no names with Indian in them):
66, 8267, B8464, 14243, 3688
Doeskin Tan:
61, 8265, B8462, 14241, 3686

Hope those help. If anyone else needs/wants the rest of the paint codes, I could take a photo of the page and a half and post a link online.

Hey dyeager,

Thanks for you help on this, I really appreciate it!

I dont really understand what all those different numbers represent (ie isher WAEM code, Du Pont, Rinshed-Mason, Ditzler)

Can I assume that the code for my truck would be:

Bronze = 66L
Tan = 61U

I read somewhere that two tone vehicles have a U and L after the numbers ???

You can use those two codes, although I think you have them backwards. The U stands for Upper body color, while the L stands for lower body color. Also the 82XX numbers he gave you are also the paint codes, usually they would be U82XX or WA82XX.

Thanks lectric. thats great!

The next problem I have is finding somewhere to purchase the paint, its seems that it unavailable in the UK, typical!

I guess I have to find somewhere in the US and get a can shipped over?
