How much would I expect to pay for a gallon of bright red for my K5 Blazer? Please help!

Thanks in advance!

All depends on the manufacturer:dunno: House of kolor probably $500. Implement paint from the local farm service store $80. It varies WIDELY

Times a bajillion, there are so many grades of paint out there you could pay a couple hundred bucks to well over a grand

My paint guy just quoted me $650 / gallon. I'll fine out the brand he's looking at.

Is this a show truck or a trail rig? If its in between then I'd do the tractor paint thing. Looks good and holds up well if done right.

It's not a show truck and I live in Wisconsin so it may not stay nice for all that long with the winters we have. I just want a nice looking paint job that will last a while.

regular old bright red rustoleum:waytogo:

also red is crazy money over other colors.

look at some industrial paints with uv protection. single stage and 2-3 coats go on good n thick.

buddy does this a lot. and his famialy's dozer on the farm is holding up great after years of service.

and he is doing a 65 vw bug for a guy now with it . looks great . i will find out exacts tusday and let ya know what to ask for.

I agree, red is crazy. :eek1: I paid $300 for a quart of red to use on my wifes Jeep.

yep he just did 4 oz of newer gto red for a set of engine covers on one for a guy his cost was over 100 bucks. :eek1: for exact color match paint and style of paint also.

i will take few pics also of parts painted now with industrial .

but its 65 vw bug bahama blue . real light blue almost light light green.

I think Reds are about the highest priced. My Torch red was over $700/gal in 98.
Try to get some original blend Ferrari red....big bucks for that.

"real" paint will be a catalyzed urethane. The lowest priced brands I've seen are the Summit racing brand (about $100/gallon) and Kirker (about $75 for 3/4 gallon). You can spray on Rustoleum if it must be super cheap, but good luck keeping bugs and dirt out of the paint for a few days at a time as each coat dries.

If you've lowered your standards enough to use Rustoleum to paint your truck (like me) then a few defects in the paint is the least of your worries. :D

On that note, it was dry to the touch in like 6 hours. But being a non catalyzed paint it will always be kinda soft. We shall see what the trees do to it when I go wheeling after it's finished.

keep in mind, that's not including hardener...

most of the manny's have a budget line, Omni, etc...

for the future record.... anyone who has used, or is considering a non catalyzed enamel such as rusto, you are pretty committed to it from that point on... if you ever go to use rea, catalyzedl products over it, you'll have a nightmare unless you strip that off first..

Nice caddy (i think thats what it is) in the back round:waytogo:

82 or 83 sedan deville

just got factory color repaint done.

whole car stripped down bolt on body parts and sanded down and repainted. not full resto tho.

Im no expert, but overall I have had really good luck with the Summit Paint. Ive got about 150.00 in a gallon of paint, activator, reducer, fish eye eliminator and some tack cloths from them. Just getting ready to paint my Jimmy again.
