What is the best paint to use to spray new tie rods, steering linkage, etc? Do you get much better results with paint other than spray paint? I have a can of Rustolium, but not sure how durable that will be.
How about on a bare metal rear-end?

Everything on the underside of my k10 is covered in Rustoleum ultra coat and it holds up pretty good for rattle can. I touch it up from time to time to avoid rust and for the price I think it's hard to beat.

As far as a bare metal rear end I'd do the same thing since it's so easy to touch up and keep looking nice. I'm in the process of rebuilding a 10.25" sterling for my dad and this is just rustoleum ultra coat rattle can. Looks good IMO.

I like the idea of just being able to touch it up. This is for a 1967 GTO that I am rebuilding - frame up. I thought about having the rear end powdercoated, but can not justify the cost.

thanks,

Try to find some place local to buy the "High Performance" line of Rustoleum. Fastenal used to deal in it. Prep is extremely important. Media blast to bare metal. Self etching primer, then paint. Do not hurry the drying time. And don't scratch it when installing.

The brand of paint you are using. Self etching on bare metal. Then a good filler primer if the metal needs to be smoothed. If the primer is not correct, no amount of paint will fix it.
