So the end goal of my Suburban (Frankenburb the 1978? 1984? Suburban) is to look something like this:

But a dark paint makes the interior of a car very warm here in the summer (I love the color of my 2012 Silverado, imperial blue metallic, but it is always much hotter inside than my white 2012 Sierra work truck). I will be insulating the roof above the headliner, but have also been considering painting the roof white as well. I just cant decide on where to make the line. I could do it at the same location like it is on the pickups (line 1 in the pictures below), or I could make it the same as the angle where the roof begins to turn over (line 2 below), or I could make it so most of the roof is white following the hump on the roof unique to Suburbans (line 3 below). I've found some pictures online of Suburbans with a white roof starting at line 1, but I'm not a big fan of that. My initial thought was to do it at line 2. I haven't decided on an insulation yet, but I have some I am going to do some tests on. Maybe I won't need to paint the roof white at all.

What do you all think?

I get the reasoning behind the thought and if it was me i'd cut it at line one just because there are nice cutoff points. But overall I'd Keep it two tone because the white roof would throw the look off. With some insulation the summer sun shouldn't be to bad

My burn is dark blue with gray inset. I'm thinking of doing the gray on top. I'm leaning towards line 2 myself. My Dads 81 had a white roof (I think). I know some early 70's models had a white roof from the factory.

I would go at the body seam break, just a little cleaner look!
