Well I asked this once before i think and i cant find it. But anyway I got Chrome wagon wheels on my truck and the chrome is really rusted there is no way i am gonna be able to save the chrome. And at this point in time i dont have the money for a set off new wheels(gas being at $4.00 a gallon doesnt help). I was thinking to paint em pick up a 80grit flap wheel and some "hammertone" Paint. Any suggestions, or will what i wanna do work?

Thanks

That is exactly how I painted my Chrome Wagon wheels. Hit them with a coarse wire wheel till the chrome was dull and the rust gone. Used Hammerite primer and paint. They have held up fine. The only time paint comes off, is if it gets scraped off by rocks. Then all that is needed is a quick touch up.

Alrite sweet I just gotta wait for the weather to warm up a little bit, and then get to work.

Now i need to pick a color, What ya guys think?

Argent. (silver wheel color that was stock)

Unless you are going to remove all shiny parts.

I dont think I can get the argent silver in hammerite paint, but there is probaly something really close.

The shiny parts are staying, well most of them. The rear bumper is really rusty, so i am probaly gonna build a heavy duty one, and than maybey one for the front so it dont look out of place.

But the cool thing about paint is if i dont like it i can always redo it.
