How is the current auto store Vinyl Spray Paint? Has anyone sprayed their interior panels. Im looking to go from OEM Blue to Black.

For those that have done it, what was the prep work and how is it holding up?

Examples would be cool. :D

SEM colorcoat.. nuff said..

hot soapy water scrub with a maroon scuffpad.. than do it again... interior panels love to fisheye from yr's of armorall if not washed/degreased thoroughly....

holds up outstanding everywhere except heavy wear spots like tops of door panels and such.. after 3, 4 yr's, you'll see wearthru in spots.. but a dashpad? will stay perfect forever...

Mutt's stuff.. dashpad was maroon.. hard plastics and visor where white..

COol. Ill get some and do my door panels. the dash I ordered is already black (not sure if glossy or flat, it LMC) and do the visors as well.

I generally like to use the satin black... than if I want some bling to it, i'll dress/409 it...

tho Mutt's dash is done in gloss, and honestly, it's a lot more maintenance friendly when it shines already... :haha:

Yeah, I did my dash and it worked great. It's not like a coating, or it doesn't seem that way. More like a dye. I haven't tried harder plastics in the truck, though I used plastic paint on wifes plastic planters and it seems similar.

I just ordered 2 cans from summit..25shipped. So, anxious to see how it works..gonna be my project next week while im off for Memorial day.

good to know.. I usually just get it from my body supply place, but for the masses, summit is handy...

remember, degreasing is your friend...

Yes, this stuff looks good and is basically permanent for stuff like A-pillar trim, dash, etc. It will not hold up on the armrest pad, so you're better off replacing those with actual black ones. The top of the door panels will probably wear off over time, but the vinyl dye does have a decent affinity for touch ups.

been lucking out with Mutt, been 2 yr's and the tops of the doors are holding up great... but I've seen it wear off there in other vehicles... and even than, like ya said, not bad for touch-ups, especially if ya run satin...
