I started sanding to see just how many layers of paint are actually on my truck today...

I can already tell this is going to take some time. Started wet sanding with 400 grit, but I think I need to step up to 200. Under the ugly rattle can Forest Green paint there is what looks like a layer of US Forest Service Green, then grey primer, then cammo (and no idea how many layers make up the cammo yet).

Anyone know where to find OD Green paint by the gallon that doesn't cost over $50-75/gallon? Napa wanted $185/gallon and the local auto paint supply wants $280/gallon. Local hardware store can't mix flat enamels either.

Any Sherwin Williams Industrial (not simply home) stores near you?

Is the original CARC paint on it? If that is the cammo underneath, don't sand on that stuff without a full respirator system. That is some dangerous shtuff.

Full respirator? A good particulate filter mask will do from what I've read. Not those dust masks though. I don't think you need an aromatic system:confused:

sanding introduces more dust particles than spraying. So sanding CARC paint is more dangerous than spraying it according to our MSDS's. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
