painting Wheels

hey guys a have a 78 k5, i decided to paint the wheels.they are just steel wheels, how should i scuff em up before paint?should i just use a wire wheel

Definately man, scuff the paint and get rid of the shine all of it the paint will adhere much better. You could also spend the money and get them sandblasted to bare metal 2 , prime, then paint them . Make sure you do thin coats of paint not 2 thick. Abot 3 coats will be great.
