Hey guys i just got some parts from kert, which the parts look awesome, but they need to be painted, and i was wondering what you guys use, the process, etc

Thanks

Tom

yep, thats pretty much what i did.

if you want to really careful, you sand (lightly) and prime first (etching primer) but its not really required.

For best results, primer then paint.

Powder coat is cool but harder to touch up at some later point in life if your into keeping it super clean.

If ya wheel it hard and just know its gona get raked across the rocks, shoot it and forget it!

Paint sticks purdy good to our scuffed "PPP" metal finish.

I like to use tractor paint. I get the best results from rubbing them down with scotch-brite pads, then laquer thinner, prime, and paint. I hate when stuff starts rusting.

I zinc, epoxy prime and urethane (usually Imron) pretty much everything... denatured, sand, denatured, prime, yada, yada..

When you have 9 guns, buy body products in gallons, have rolls of masking paper, etc, it tends to be way more cost effective in the long run... Add in I actually like to do things the right way... :p:

And the process is as durable as your gonna get... But it's committing to plenty o big projects..

OR scuff em, douche em, and rattle can em... :wink1:

i just flapper wheel to smooth burs out, scotch brite scuff the rest, and then rattle-can primer + rattle can paint. Works for me.

i scuffed my bumper with some de greaser and Scotch Britte and rattle bombed it

held up pretty good

you don't want to paint on smooth tube it wont stick very well

brakeclean, let it dry, prime it and paint it. Latly Ive secumed to wiping it down and just spray painting it, any suspension parts are gonna get nailed but gravel and mud and everything else.

I shoot em really quick with some fine sand, from my cheapy blaster, and wipe, prime and paint (rattle can). I tried the prime and paint only, but it's so fragile it doesn't last well just through moving them around. I'm speaking of most raw material parts in general, ... not DIY's only. After the blasting, you can clank the parts together without boogering up the paint.
