So the remote fob for Deb's 2002 Durango is getting unreliable. I ordered a new one from Rock Auto, Dorman brand and it comes with a programmer module you plug into the OBDII port. I followed the instructions to the letter, multiple times. No joy. The damn fob just does not work. Worse yet, the damn programmer clears the decks so now the old fob doesn't work at all anymore either.

Now you have to use the key to lock and unlock and half the time the alarm goes off. Starting the truck turns the alarm off...but as you can imagine my wife is pretty pissed off. I've tried contacting Dorman's tech help, and no response at all.

I'm wondering if these scanner tools you can get are able to put the ECM in "fob learning" mode or not? I could use a scanner, but don't have another pressing need for one right now.

Anyone else have this kind of issue?

this is what we bought.
